Incident Summary/Update
Huntington Beach Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire. Despite the fact that the fire had burned through the roof, the fire damage was contained to the unit of origin and brought under control within 25 minutes of receiving the call.
Two cell phone callers reported a fire at 16892 Gothard at 11:12 pm. At 11:18 pm the first arriving units reported seeing flames through the roof of the structure just above unit C of the concrete tilt up building. A second alarm was requested due to the potential for fire spread, however the fire was contained to the unit of origin due to a fast aggressive fire attack. After 19 minutes of fire fighting, the fire was declared under control at 11:37pm.
The fire had burned through a skylight of the involved unit, which suffered extensive heat and smoke damage to the contents and approximately 400 square feet of the structure. Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. At the time of this press release, the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
